This authentic bronze coin album celebrates the legendary origins of Rome, struck during the reign of Constantine in the early 4th century AD. Issued between AD 330–340s, it reflects a time when the empire was redefining itself, yet still honoring the deep-rooted myths that shaped its identity.
The coin features the helmeted bust of Roma on the obverse, the personification of the Eternal City. The reverse depicts one of the most iconic scenes in Roman mythology—the she-wolf (Lupa Capitolina) nursing the twins Romulus and Remus. This powerful image represents the founding of Rome in 753 BC and remained a lasting symbol of the city’s divine origins.
Struck in bronze as a commemorative nummus, these coins circulated widely during the same period that Constantinople was established as a new imperial capital. Even as political power shifted east, Rome’s legacy was reinforced through imagery that connected the present empire to its legendary past.
These issues are among the first to explicitly depict Rome’s founding myth in coinage, bridging the gap between pagan tradition and the emerging Christian empire. They reflect a moment when history, myth, and identity were brought together in a single design.
This is more than just a coin—it’s the birth of a civilization. A tangible connection to the story that defined Rome for over a thousand years.
